From April 22 to May 1, 2017, an education delegation from South Africa visited China. The event was hosted by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and undertaken by the Base for International Chinese Teaching Materials Development & Teacher Training (CTM) at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Accompanied by Professor Qin Shengyong, Director of Confucius Institute of University of Cape Town (CIUCT), two education officials, four headmasters from South African primary and secondary schools participated in the event.
Since October 2016, Chinese tea art has been presented in several Mandarin classes in partner schools of Confucius Institute at University of Cape Town (CI-UCT), enjoying huge popularity among teachers and students.
On October 15th, 2016, the first Chinese Song Singing Competition, hosted by Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Town (CI-UCT), was held at the Music hall of Groote Schuur High School. More than 60 students from UCT and the partner-schools of CI participated in this competition.
On 20th September, Du Yubo,Deputy Minister and Vice Secretary of Party Committee of Ministry of Education, Inspected Confucius Institute at University of Cape Town. Du Yubo visited and extended greetings to Chinese teachers, volunteers and other staff members of Confucius Institute.
