Groote Schuur High School students shine at Chinese Calligraphy Competition

Students from Confucius Classroom demonstrating their artworks proudly


Congratulations to the 6 students from Confucius Classroom at Groote Schuur High School who won prizes in the Chinese Calligraphy Competition held in Cape Town on 4th August 2018, with contestants from five Confucius Institutes and three Confucius Classrooms in South Africa. Rory Samuels, Caitlin Prinsloo, Agatha Engel won First, Second and Third Prize respectively. Tiffany Williams, Linda Mqambeli and Thabiso Joseph Rantsho were awarded Excellent Participant Prizes.


This is the result of hard work for several weeks. The students have been practicing conscientiously and enthusiastically. Chinese calligraphy is a treasure in Chinese culture, which has the function of influencing one’ sentiment and cultivating one’s character. The students enjoyed learning Chinese calligraphy.
